Chandra Mathis, Science Teacher
Ms. Mathis teaches Science at HPA and is the coach of the Robotics Team. This school year marks her "Sweet 16" in education and her fourth at HPA. She previously taught Science in Abilene and Stamford and was a 4th grade teacher at West Central in Hereford for two years. Prior to her teaching career, she worked in the newspaper and radio business and was a church secretary. She was raised in and graduated from Canyon High School and has a BS in Agriculture Education with a Communications Specialization from Texas Tech University.
She has two grown sons, Tanner and Dalton, one daughter-in-love, Kelsey, and is the very proud "YaYa" to two wonderful grandchildren: Brazos and Swayde.
In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends and can often be found hiking, camping, birding or just hanging out at Palo Duro Canyon.
